TMBC Māori Caucus
The TMBC Māori Caucus is a collective of Māori biosecurity practitioners, kaitiaki, environmental specialists, researchers, and cultural advisors who provide strategic leadership and a Māori perspective on biosecurity across Tauranga Moana. The Caucus ensures that mātauranga Māori, tikanga, whakapapa, and kaitiakitanga are integrated into biosecurity planning, decision-making, and on-the-ground action.
The Māori Caucus advances Māori-led biosecurity initiatives, strengthens relationships between communities and agencies, and promotes culturally informed responses to environmental threats. The Caucus leads TMBC's annual wānanga and the Tiakina Taiao education programme, and represents TMBC at regional, national, and international forums to share knowledge, build partnerships, and advocate for indigenous approaches to biosecurity.
Operations Team
The Events and Marketing team supports the Executive Committee with secretarial duties to keep the incorporated society running smoothly. We feed into strategy planning and budgeting to ensure our programmes are delivered effectively.
We handle all marketing and communications across TMBC, and plan and deliver our full events calendar - including the Connect & Protect series, the annual Biosecurity Excellence Symposium, public awareness campaigns, workshops, and our secondary school programme.
