BUILDING CAPABILITY
Strengthening our region's biosecurity readiness - together.
Protecting Tauranga Moana from harmful pests and diseases takes more than awareness. It takes a prepared, skilled community. TMBC offers hands-on capability-building opportunities that equip individuals, organisations, and communities with the knowledge and tools to respond effectively when it matters most.
What We Offer
Biosecurity readiness and response training
We deliver training based on New Zealand's National Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS), the same framework used by government agencies during biosecurity incursions.
Pest and disease workshops
Focused, practical workshops designed around specific biosecurity threats. From invasive insects to plant diseases, these workshops provide participants with the knowledge to identify, report, and act on biosecurity risks in our region.
Educational field trips
Our field trips offer real-world learning experiences that bring the classroom to the landscape.
Wānanga
We support kaupapa Māori approaches to biosecurity learning through wānanga - collaborative, community-centred gatherings that draw on mātauranga Māori alongside best-practice biosecurity.
How to Get Involved
These capability-building opportunities are woven into TMBC's events programme, open to both members and the wider public.
TMBC members are the first to hear about upcoming training and events as they arise. Become a member to stay in the loop and be ready when opportunities open up.
