Mediterranean Fanworm Discovered in Bay of Plenty

As part of the bi-annual Tauranga Moana harbour surveillance, a large number of juvenile Mediterranean fanworm (Sabella spallanzanii)  were discovered  on the bottom of a boat moored in the harbour, highlighting the need to keep hulls cleaned.

In this case, the boat was lifted out, scrapped down, treated and returned to the water.
