TMBC 'Spotlight on Biosecurity' Week 2019
Our TMBC partners are supporting and hosting a week of biosecurity-related activities in and around Tauranga Moana, from Monday 21 October - Friday 25 October including:
'Bad Bugs' Colouring in competition for schools
Primary schools across the region are competing for a range of prizes in this year's TMBC biosecurity colouring competition. Winners will be announced at the symposium.
Port of Tauranga Biosecurity Excellence, Monday 21, Thursday 24 and Friday 25, Port-based with visits to associated facilities
A key focus of the Port of Tauranga Excellence group is to implement activities to raise biosecurity awareness amongst Port staff, contractors and visitors (including associated businesses and providers etc) and educate them on how they can help reduce the risk of unwanted pests and pathogens entering New Zealand through the Port. After holding successful Biosecurity Weeks in the past, another similar event will be held in 2019 that will engage more people in quality conversations about managing biosecurity risk. There will be two days of dedicated staffroom visits and conversations over morning tea shouts; visits to Transitional Facilities that service the Port; and a special Vessel to Vine coach tour for biosecurity champions to increase understanding of what is at risk in the local area if there was an incursion through the Port. A new pest calendar has also been produced for these audiences in a pack that is provided during visits to demonstrate the resources and education material available from the Excellence group.
