Biosecurity New Zealand conducted a survey of Tauranga Harbour from the 14-18th of February that looks for non-native marine organisms that could impact our environment. No new-to-New Zealand species were detected.

Threatened Fish Species Found In Ōhiwa Area

New and rare fish species have been discovered by Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council scientists in the Nukuhou catchment. Further eDNA sampling across the Ōhiwa is planned for later this year and will look at 10-20 more sites.

Biosecurity NZ has released a new web tool so people can report suspected exotic pests and diseases online. From their website, users are guided through the reporting process and can submit photos, locations, and other information.
